the Whitewater Clouser - a guide's pattern

Recommended Posts

This is a pattern that I developed a few years back - specifically for working mangrove shorelines in the interior of the Everglades (Whitewater Bay out of Flamingo... ).

The only specie this pattern hasn’t accounted for are tarpon... Have no idea why.  We use it in two ways... pounding shorelines with heavy cover and around fixed objects like downed trees (or around pilings or markers)...

Or simply across whatever current is present in rivers (or river mouths) as well as shallow passes between islands or oyster bars... allowing the current to work it down and across with sharp strips and pauses so it appears to dart then fall over and over...

Most days I’ll have at least one rod set up with one ready to go (usually on a 9 or 8wt with a floating line).
