troutmaster08 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2020 I had seen many pictures of the james wood bucktail and heard it was a good crappie fly so I decided to change it a bit and made a great crappie fly. It can catch many different sunfish and bass species.

troutmaster08 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2020 The original has bucktail working almost as a hackle and this one has a cape which is the tip of a guinea fowl feather.
niveker 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2020 That's what I thought, thanks. And the body, did you use dubbing in a loop instead of chenille?
troutmaster08 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2020 yes, it seems to keep it a little higher up and I mainly fish shallow water.

WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2020 Another option is tying the body with white and black chenille that's been twisted together (or variegated black/white chenille - if you can find it!) then wrapped on the shank, use a mix of black and white bucktail as the collar and black bucktail head.
