SBPatt 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2020 Houston’s Cullinanes Muddler (variation) I was so happy with the way the head spun out that it took me a minute to realize I forgot the wing and at that point I didn’t want to blade it off. Since I’ll be fishing it for stupid cutts and not wary loch browns, I don’t think it will matter. Next one will have wing and a denser shoulder, probably dyed Mearns quail. JDM1 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2020 ESP (Extra Special Perdigon) I wish I had a better camera, but I wanted to share a few flies this month despite the questionable picture quaility. This perdigon variation has been a killer for me the last couple months. I've probably caught 60% of my fish on this pattern. I tie them big on size 10-14 jig hooks with an oversize copper tungsten bead. I use a fire orange translucent glass bead for the hot spot instead of flourescent thread which is what I think makes the fly work so well. I use a cream thread for the body and then use green and orange sharpies to shade the top so it has a two-tone look(hard to see in the photo). Hook: Size 10-14 Jig Style Head: 3.8mm Copper Tungsten Bead Wing Case: Black Sharpie Coated with Thick UV Resin Thorax/Hotspot: 2mm Fire Orange Translucent Glass Bead Abdomen: Cream Thread with Black Wire Rib and Sharpies for Coloring (coated with several layers of thin uv resin) Tail: Coq De Leon Big thanks to everyone who shares their flies and knowledge on this forum.
