August Flies From the Vise

As my friend keeps telling "it's something to do" .  The other option is to tie flies or eat junk food.  I opted for the flies.  The last class in the  IFF Zoom fly tying class on "Tying with Foam"  was on tying a foam dragonfly.  I've tied them before, but this time I did a bit of research on dragonflies.  So these are full size to match the large ones I usually see on the local lakes and rivers.  The wings are split because the ones I've seen down in the water have the the wings spread out, not in a clump.  Figured, whether I tied them with one wing or split, the wing would make the fly a bugger to cast if you weren't using a heavy leader.  These are 8 wgt flies.   As far as the colors go, I've never seen a purple one, but I've seen the other colors.

I've been tying a lot the last couple weeks.  These are "why did I buy this material" flies.  Not sure whether the foam bodies are suppose to be poppers or divers.  Don't like flat bottom poppers so turned them into divers.  Plan to fish them off of an intermediate or sinking line.   Finally tied a purple fly.
