Alex C. 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2005 Like SH, I try to use my fingers whenever possible. For me it's easier on flys like woolly buggers than dry flys. I use my rotary vice and just keep enough tension on the feather to where it won't slip.
ditz 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2005 On most hackle I like a cheap set that has a rubber disk on one face and a ribbed circular face on the other and they seldom slip or break the hackle. On really small stuff I use a pair of english style and they slip often. I will have to try the rubber on one jaw. Sounds great.....I use fingers on hackle that I feel is large or long enough to handle without problems. ditz
