skeet3t 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 Wife and I have Hodgman stocking foot waders. Boots are Cabela's and Hodgman. You will get a sackful of answers here. Mainly, whatever your budget will guide you.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 Personally for boots I will never use anything other than Korkers. They not only make a great long lasting boot, but their customer service is next to none. I had an issue about 7 yrs ago with a boa lace, they ended up sending me a brand new pair of boots to replace the pair I had that were only 1 yr old no questions asked . Great service. And their boots are really nice. I'm on my 2nd pair of Korkers and they have lasted longer than any other. For waders you kind'a get what you pay for. I don't suggest going all out for the $500 waders, I will never do that, but I have owned a few pair of sub $100 waders and they never last more than a couple years if you spend much time on the water. Now I spent a tad more and bought some Orvis waders. I didn't go nuts and drop a lot of cash, I bought the cheaper Orvis model and cost me around $160. But they are on their 4th year now and no issues after around 30+ days per year in them.
Sandan 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 Simms G3 waders. Boots, I'm on my 4th or 5th year of an old pair of Simms G3 vibram soles. I'm thinking about new boots. Orvis Pros, Siims G4s maybe some Korkers (after Steeldrifter's reccomendo) BTW I probably spend about 65 days a year, easily, on the water. Durability and comfort are key. Make sure your waders and boots fit. DO NOT wear jeans under your waders. I have a pair of Frog Toggs wading pants that are OK, their waders might be an option. Mark Knapp 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 Personally I think you are asking for the unobtainable, especially where you say "a stocking foot that breaths".

cphubert 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 Korkers with boa lace, 4th year fresh & salt no issues, keep them clean swap out soles for conditions. Orvis silver sonic waders have their share of aqua seal repairs but they have lasted longer than any previous pair will probably replace in another year. If you can try the boots on in store to fit the waders.

Also the seams in your jeans cause extra stress and wear to your waders, resulting in...leaks and reduced wader life. Don't ask me how I know.
BHouk 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 I have had Bass Pro stocking waders for several years. They're holding up pretty well. I have some cheap felt soles and some expensive Orvis cleats Can't recommend either. My wife has Frogg Togg waders and boots. She likes them and my replacements may come from them. Reasonable quality for the price.
Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2020 This is kind of like asking for input on a new vise. All waders leak. Fact of life just like death and taxes. I use cabelas waders. I can get 5 years from a pair but Ive also only gotten two years from them. Cabelas ultra light wading boots with studded felt soles. My current pair are about 5 years old and the sole is starting to rip away so I will have to replace them by next year. Probably the most comfortable boots I've ever owned but they are exceptionally cold in cold water. Perhaps that's the coldwaters fault, perhaps it's my blood circulation slowing down. When my waders start to leak I throw them away and get a new pair so expensive waders are not even considered because of the fact that all waders leak. Money don't change that. To be fair I only wade a few dozen times a year and probably half of those trips I'm home before lunch time. I'll take five pairs of waders over one pair every day of the week since all waders leak. One thing i will be looking for when I need new waders is the front zipper. I'm getting to old to do the dance anymore.

I'm glad I'm following the rules (I have a hard enough time getting into them as it is). Question: Does anyone know if wader suspenders can be extended (in an easy way). I got a pair of Redball waders as a gift years ago, and they work fine, but I wouldn't mind having a few more inches of suspender (they are completely let out). I looked around but didn't find anything. Thanks, Bill

But I was looking for something natively compatible with wader suspenders. I don't require the "extension" to be unhookable, so this is overkill in that sense. I have seen "belt extenders", and I was expecting to find something along those lines. I was sort of surprised I didn't find anything at all when I searched. Thanks!
