But please post a pic or a link to the eel sushi fly. I’d love to see it?

jamieofthenorth 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2020 Golden Retriever variation, size 10. Variation for me often means I didn't have at least one of the materials called for in the original recipe. In this case, it was almost everything, but the substitutes were close, at least. Had red thread but am getting low, so opted for orange since I have tons of it. No estaz, so made a dubbing loop with tan ice dubbing. No tan marabou for the tail, so used a combo of white and yellow. This is a popular pattern in Maine. Looking forward to trying these out tomorrow. SBPatt 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2020 McDonald’s Westie Muddler (variation) Tied this a bit fuller than the original because, again, I’m looking to fish this more as a dry. Swapped out deer belly hair for pronghorn which, even though a bit unruly, spins like a dream and is substantial down to the tip. hook - BVFT Dry #10 thread - Veevus 6/0 black rib - small wire silver Tag - dubbing flame body - dubbing black body hackle - furnace collar/head - pronghorn hair white Regards, Scott

A real good floater and high vis. too. Do you get to fish all the flies you tie? It's a lucky man that gets to fish every fly he ties. Nice tie. Trout and char would chomp that up, up here. SBPatt 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2020 Mark, Thanks. Any flies I didn’t get to this season (and this was one of them) will make it into the rotation next year. Regards, Scott
