MuskyFlyGuy 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2020 My wife and I floated the St. Croix River today with a guide. It was rainy when we left Minneapolis at 6 a.m. and the driving was difficult. Eventually it stopped and we had a nice cloudy and cool day. We have floated with our guide a number of times and we’re looking forward to the day. Fifteen minutes into the float a musky took a swipe at my fly. It moved a lot of water, but missed the fly. Five minutes later a surprise smallie was landed. Normally all smallies migrate downstream by now. Later in the morning my wife and I caught northerns out of the same eddy. This afternoon a musky came out of the rocks and hit the fly. We got it to net, took a few pictures, and released it. My wife took a great release picture. A great day of Fall fishing on a beautiful river.
