JDM1 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2020 Grizzly Baitfish Jig Hook: Size 10 Jig Hook Tail: 2 Medium sized Grizzly hackle feathers Body: Pheasant Marabou (mix of light and dark) Collar: Large grizzly soft hackle Bead & Hotspot: 4mm copper tungsten bead and red floss for hotspot Super simple fly that I'll probably tie with eyes and a resin head at some point. This version fished really well last weekend and I had a blast tossing it toward structure/undercut banks with my 3 weight and nailing aggressive trout. Criticism/suggestions for improvement are welcomed. - Jason

Mark Knapp 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2020 A few people asked me to make an SBS on how I make segmented Mayfly bodies. You can see it if you like in SBS sub-forum. The first one is for the easiest method, the floss method. Others will follow using hackle and other things to make the bars.

McFlyLures 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2020 2 hours ago, niveker said: Very nice, McFly. Does the first one have a name? It is a snowshoe rabbit with cdc caddis. So I do custom ties for people. Many times they send me pictures and ask me to copy. That one took me like 9 tries to figure out how to do it correctly. Haha! But they didn’t give me a name for the fly. I know I’ve seen it, or at least similar places so I’m sure it has a name. As for the last one (extended body mayfly), I left the abdomen long like that because that’s what the picture he had showed. So I just copied. It is way too long in my opinion but, it’s what he wanted. I really like marks way here, I’m gonna be going and checking out his how to on that! Very cool! Did a quick search and only Egan's Corn Fed Caddis or an egg laying Caddis by Matt Grobert look close. I think its Egan's fly that I remembered, but yours looks better.
