La Gaston (Frank Guimond pattern)

Category - Trout streamer

Hook - Streamer style

Thread - Black

Tail - Golden pheasant tippets

Ribbing - Flat gold tinsel

Body - Chinese red uni stretch

Throat - Golden pheasant tippet over gold crystal flash

Wing - Dyed red bucktail over gold crystal flash

The fly above was tied from a photo on Frank Guimond's website. I tried the Google translator on the French name "La Gaston" and it returned the same basic translation in English "The Gaston"

Partridge & Orange Winged Wets, floss vs dubbed body.

Ran across this pattern on a New Zealand fishing website (fishingmag.co.nz), that must be why I tied the wings on upside down.

Does that mean they drift in a counterclockwise direction as well?

LOL - yeah TS, and with the wings tied upside down, combined with the Earth's rotation, it won't twist my leader, as long as the stream I'm fishing flows north.  It was all very carefully thought out, don'tcha know.
