Float trip on Thursday

Recommended Posts

Floated a section of the St. Croix in Wisconsin yesterday. Air temperature was 34 when we hit the water. Most of the Fall colors were gone and it warmed up to low 40s by the end of the day.

In the afternoon a musky pushing four feet came out of nowhere and put its nose on the fly right at the boat. It was an awkward set, but I thought I stuck the fish. I had her for a few seconds and then the hook popped out. We all clearly saw the fish. She was beautiful and girthy. Later I did land a small one off a wild rice bed. The wind was tough all day and I slept well last night.  I have to retie some flies that suffered tooth damage before the next and much colder trip.

Sounds like fun Tom. I dunno though if seeing a fish that size and losing it is good or bad, might have been better to not even see how big she was lol
