bullhead 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2020 Can anyone suggest an equivalent substitute for this material. I see fly patterns that include this quite often., What about Fly Tiers Dungeon products? Thanks

mikechell 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2020 How much work are you willing to put into it? Richmce has been using satin fibers, pulled from satin cloth, for several years. Great material, moves extremely well in the water. Very fine fibers. Looking up "Fuzzy Fibers", it looks a lot like FTD's congo hair ... but maybe a little finer. Bimini15 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2020 The strung fuzzy fiber I have is coarser than Congo, but the main difference is... pic included. Left is Congo, right is fuzzy fiber.
Rocco 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2020 Fuzzy fiber is often used as a sculpin head material in a dubbing loop that will shape well and not retain water. It adds bulk to head of a fly w/o impeding casting/sinking. To me, its kinky character does not recommend it as a movement wing material in streamers.,
