Joshpilon08 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2020 Hello everybody. Been a long time since I checked in. Been a busy and strange year. Everything from car wrecks to buying a house and this virus floating around. I started feeling ill monday night and tested positive for COVID tuesday. Now I'm stuck in a room in our basement with a few creature comforts. I even mobilized my tying bench once again. Question is I'm looking for ideas on what I should be tying. I want to stick around great lakes winter steelhead flies. Once I'm out of this isolation phase I'm hitting the river. If I have the materials on hand I'll give whatevers thrown at me a go and post picture later on. I hope everyone has a merry christmas and happy new years as well. Good luck and stay healthy. mikechell 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2020 Good luck with the course of the disease. Hopefully, you're in the high percentage of people who experience nothing more than cold like symptoms. I don't tie the kinds of flies you're speaking of. Everything eats small fry and minnows, so streamers that mimic any of those will be fish food. jamieofthenorth 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2020 No experience with those types of flies, but glad you're on the up and up and rebounding. I hope you emerge from the basement with an insane arsenal.... great thing to do while in isolation.

Joshpilon08 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2021 So I decided to stray away from steelhead flies and start work on some flies for small trout streams out by the new house. I focused in on elk hair caddis, and a few san Juan worms. I didn't end up tying as much as I should have. The wife and son got sick a few days later. So we've all been quarantined together now. niveker 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2021 Hope the wife and boy get over it easily. Assuming you also did since its been over a week from when you first posted. For what its worth, two of my kids in college tested positive and then three days later tested negative. No symptoms whatsoever. My Mom & Dad, both in their 80's, tested positive after feeling sick. A few days of some vertigo and aches and pains, and they are back to normal now. Hope the same for your and yours. Best of luck in the new year, and post up some of those ties. DarrellP 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2021 This virus seems to be so varied in its effect. I hope you and yours have a light case with no lingering issues. Post some of your flies.
dave 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2021 Josh, I had the same symptoms you had back in August and tested positive. Thought I was completely over it but about eight weeks later started getting joint pain especially in my knees. I'm getting up in years but have never had any joint pain before. Apparently it's not uncommon in people who had the virus. Of course, at my age and health condition, I'm just damn glad it didn't kill me or put me on a ventilator. Oddly, my wife never got it from me.
skeet3t 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2021 Hope the virus leaves real soon. Know of a lady who tested negative three times and admitted to ER twice for breathing problems. Doctor said chest X-rays were characteristic of Covid but she never tested positive. My son had it and said he had colds and felt worse.
