Have you "thought out" the roof? Why don't you want to use a chainsaw? Bill
mikechell 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2021 Are you notching those logs, or just lying them on top of each other. A lot less chinking required if you're notching, which narrows the gaps and keeps the logs from moving later on.

Why don't you want to use a chainsaw? Bill I am making the top wood flatter and I am nailing planks to the top. Since the cabin is so small i will easily be able to shovel it off and I will pack 4-6 inches of snow on the roof for extra insulation. As for the chainsaw, I don't have one. Remember, I am 14. I don't think my dad wants me to cut my leg off. It's also really good exercise hacking at wood with an axe.

If you make it too cozy, you may find wildlife taking refuge in it. That could provide a surprise for you both! : )

We do not have many bears, and the cabin is too small for a moose. The predators are wary becuase me an my neighbor both trap.
Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2021 What kind of predator is able to identify trappers from non trappers? I'm pretty sure history is filled with trappers who met their demise at the hand of a predator.
