yup

fly tyers sure have a way at making things difficult

This is the truth, but if it was easy would it be as rewarding? Or fun?

Sounds like you have a very understanding woman. I got my wife a pasta cutter for Christmas.  When I saw this post I got to thinking... but she won't let me near it.

Same thing! I presented it to my wife a couple of years ago as a Christmas gift, cause she is into crafting and stuff. So now, when I got into fishing and flies, she kindly let me use it, but she keeps joking that it was my plan from the very beginning.

DFoster,

I use a hand-cranked pasta cutter to cut strips for some flies like the Tuscan Bunny.  Works OK and only paid about $25 on Amazon.

Definitely not to just cut wing cases- I know a lot of pike guys who use them to cut custom ultra suede tail shapes- stuff like cohen's tails, kiley's stuff, paccharini, etc. All can be cut on those machines. I think Pat uses a laser cutting machine, but it's a pretty thin materials.

Off the top- I would cut foam strips, ultra suede tails, raffia, stencil patterns, -
