Borcher’s Special !

Recommended Posts

I was noddling around a couple of tying sites and there was a reference to a very popular and apparently

productive pattern called the Brocher’s special from Grayling Mi.  Never heard of this dry fly pattern before

and I was curious so I gave it a try tonight.  Has anyone had any experience with this fly ?

Hook.  .......   Mustad 94840 sz 12

Thread. .....   Utc 70  Black

Tail.      ......   Moose body hair

Body.  .....     5 or 6 fibres of mottled turkey wrapped

Wings. .....    Herbert Miner Hen hackle tips. Dun

Hackle. ....    Whiting grizzly & brown mixed

I tie and fish the Borchers parachute, its kind of covers all lot of the brown bugs that inhabit many of the streams in northern Michigan. Check out Tim Neals video on tying the parachute Borcher, he has series on Michigan flies.

Mike.
