Sean Juan 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Most fishing shows are just glorified infomercials...and they suck. However, when I was in college I made a few episodes of "The Fishin' Magician" which was primarily a sketch comedy show - I did most of the writing and the fishing and my two brother's one who is now an actor/model/stand up comic the other is an artist did the skits. Best episodes were when we went after the Kraken (paper-machie tentacles look like crap on camera - but when they have boxing gloves all is forgiven. And the Young Man and the Pond espisode where we tied a rope to a belly boat and pulled it along to simulate it getting pulled by a fish - which in the end turned out to be a bluegill. But the episode we won a campus award for was when we had my brother's girlfriend attempt to seduce the Fishing Magician while he was tying flies - she comes down in Victoria Secret's feather bra and shakes them under his nose while he's concentrating on a fly - he turns to her and with a bit of drool says "Oh baby you know what I WANT!!!!" reaches for her chest plucks a feather and ties it in. Big Will 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2005 I agree that the show was wrong. And with what several of the hunters said about taking only what you need. The only thing I have to say about that is there are times when you need more than the law will let you have. I learned that at a young age, however that was then and all things got better with age. Michigan Trout Guy 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2005 I just got done watching an outdoors show on which they were hunting an alligator with a bow. I don't really see the point in hunting predators in the first place, seeing as you are probably not going to eat them, and probably just want them for a trophy. But the show said that the population had shot up, and that they had gotten a nusiance license, so I guess I can see that. This guy had to shoot the alligator 4 times just to weaken it enough to be able to drag it out of the pond. Each time he shot it, it would of course submerge, and then they would stand near the bank waiting for it to surface again. Due to editing I have no way of telling how long that thing was submerged for between each shot, but I know gators can stay under for hours at a time, and I'm guessing that after being shot with a bow, he wasn't in any hurry to get to the surface. I would guess that it took them at least an hour or two to finally kill this thing , and when they dragged it out of the water, it still wasn't completely dead. They threw a rope around it and it gave one final death roll. I you ask me, this was totally unneccessary, and uncalled for. This guy could have pulled out a rifle and killed the gator with one well placed shot. Instead he made it suffer for what had to be, at the very least an hour, just so he could say that he took a gator with a bow. I am not impressed one little bit, because all he did was stand at the edge of the pond and wait for his 9 foot target to appear on the surface. A trained ape could do that. If you ask me, it was completely selfish and irresponsible on his part. Shoot the gator with a proper weapon and make a clean kill. Put your stupid ego aside! Rant over.
