Jaydub 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2021 9 hours ago, niveker said: @Jaydub - Nice ties. Not familiar with the Buzz Hackle, l like the hackle over tinsel. That one's going the 'to do' list. The Buzz Hackle is a nice little attractor. In the past I have tied it (and all fore and aft flies) with the fore hackle equal to or longer than the aft and it worked well. While revisiting this pattern, I found several references saying the aft hackle, on this pattern, should be longer to better support the heavier end of the hook. I'm not sure if it makes any difference in practice.

ROYAL COACHMAN WET For trout, this was mine too. I say was, because I haven’t trout fished in 20 years. On our annual vacation to the smokies as a kid, I’d trout fish all day, most every day in the campground stream. This was my “had to have pattern”. I think because of it’s visibility and effectiveness.

DarrellP 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2021 Scott, I hadn't realized it until you said you were bringing Whiting Farms to their knees that you almost never use dry fly hackle. You certainly have spinning deer hair down pat!
