Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2021 Finally DONE. After 10 months of fabrication, 400+ hrs of work, and a very empty wallet lol. I give you "ICARUS". 1/5 scale Mike Hesse axle truck. Quick overview of it is - 5/16" .062 wall tube chassis I built myself, axles are Hesse axles which I fully polished and have Fastlane 4ever CVD/axles in them. Monster Locker center diff locker, Castle Sensored Brushless XLX2 & 800KV motor. Headers are steel tube headers that I fabbed up myself out of steel brake line. Motor is a die cast metal 1/6 scale piece. Beadlocks I had Michael Garcia design so they were wider and more realistic then I printed them and added extra bolts for scale look. Lots more but that's the basic overview of it. Can't wait to get it outside and run it. I tested the new sensored system downstairs in the shop and it actually lays down rubber on the floor Last pics is for size comparison. I'm 6'5" 230 so gives you an idea how big these things actually are.

The Mad Duck 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2021 wow, can you pull a boat with that sucker?
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2021 Would not doubt it man. It weighs about 51lbs and with this new sensored brusless system it has so much power its unreal. I just swapped out the one I had for this new motor & ESC and tested it in the shop the other day. It actually lays down rubber while lifting the front end off the ground. This is my shop floor after two hits of it the other day lol
Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2021 It looks great! You know.......... making a scale boat and trailer to tow behind it would probably make it the only known 1/5th scale "rig" in Michigan. Besides, making a scale boat with your 3D printer and soldering up a boat trailer would be a snap compared to the making the actual truck.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2021 Geezo Peezo !!! That's one huge RC truck. I can hardly wait to see videos of it running. You need to take someone with you the first time you run it, to be your videographer and follow the action.
cphubert 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2021 Steve it's amazing watching it go from tube stock to the finished truck, great detail.

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2021 I think I am done with builds for a while. This one was really hard on the ol' pocketbook 😬
mikechell 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2021 I like Poopdeck's idea of building a boat and trailer to put behind that monster. Monster boat, with a monster trailer? Can you really NOT do that, now that the seed is planted in your head?
Lesg 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2021 And you found time to build rods?
