Especially, since I read a guide was killed yesterday by a grizzly just outside Yellowstone Park. You'll be fine. Carry a rifle and you'll be okay.

When I fished in Alaska at a fly in lodge, every guide carried a 12 gauge pump shotgun loaded with slugs. My guide had his head on a swivel the whole day. Fortunately, we were never approached by a bear.

I was told most areas we will be are pretty safe.  The remote areas not so much.  I got pepper spay leftover from Yellowstone trip and s-n-law gonna bring a hog leg.  It appears Ak is not crazy strict on guns.  I think disassembled in lock box for the plane.???   In Yellowstone a bear sighting turned into 40 car traffic jam.  Buffalo were concern more wading streams way off the road.   Moose prolly more a concern up there.  ?

Wonder how it works if you have to shoot a bear?  Doesn’t scare off.   Life threatening and all.  Down hear in Dixie all we got is gators.   But they are protected.  If I had to shoot one attacking my  retriever I would be fined.   Don’t put your dog at risk,  my fault.  Not sure about myself.  Had a gator try to come in the back of my bass boat years ago.  I broke a paddle over his head.   Complained to lake manager and that night they killed 2 the one was 10’4”.  They stopped tryin to catch/ trap them anymore; too dangerous.  When they loose fear of people they are a problem.   The problem is people feeding them...Prolly put you under the jail for a bear.   Was that absolutely necessary?   
When I was younger wading the swamps fishing had a huge wild hog run me up a tree but that was rare   Sow with shoats...

Wonder if the Yellowstone guide died from reluctance to harm the bear...

The Yellowstone Guide had bear spray and not a firearm. The bear was also destroyed.

Gotta make a mat’l order.   Was told Purple ESLs are a must up there.   Played with some counterfeits.  No purple marabou or chennile.... Get the right stuff move to the streamer hooks.  Just  Woolly Buggers with heads.  Drilled out the back of some lil plastic beads on few.  Lead wraps on the others...

Tried a few caddis pupae Juan Kriptonite style.  (Pics from a video)  14 overhands to make a long knot add bead or just Solarez for buggy body.  Heck might as well make a couple PURPLE.  😛 My bodies sticking out the back lil too far, oh well.   🥴

Previous versions.... glass beads on hook, lil mops, double eyed, cord larva and cases,  CDC dry adult.....Oops purple😳

are you making grayling flies? If you are blus duns are the best dry fly in my opinion

Never really fished a hatch as such.   Tail end of SalmonFly in Idaho and caddis and midge hatches in  the Ozarks.  I don’t tie lil dries.   Don’t have the stuff.   The only necks I have are Grizzly and brown that have the right feathers.  Most catches for me are with humpies, caddis, GriffithKnats and of course hoppers.   And mostly store bought; the tinys.  Just playing with the purple mostly. Only thing I learned about Grayling  so far is they will hit on larger flies with movement. One guy said he pulled them outa log jams on MiniHankelyMouse....   I prolly just pick up some blue duns at a fly shop.

My entire dry collection.... Not any use down here in Dixie and hatches on trips no joy....might try to fake it with blue bodies and Grizzly for some larger.  I got some hooks and magnifying readers😛   Ever heard of a blue Humpy 🥴

Maybe some for the Dollies and Grayling.  My version of “NineThree” streamer with paint drop eyes over glass bead heads...Oops pic outa focus....

if the river you are fishing is anywhere in the intiorior there probably won't be dollies. Now that is a very opposite case for grayling. They are in every river it seems like. Grayling like Adams, black gnats, blue duns, red tags, San Juan worms (Old reliable), prince nymphs, woolly buggers, hares ear nymphs, anything that looks buggy. You are on the right track

BTW if you somehow get the chance for dolly varden they like smaller stuff like eggs and nymphs i have found
