The rib is just an overlay of thread.  I did not do that consistently. 😐

For this swap you can start with a hook, tying thread, wire (lead or otherwise) or bead, bead chain or cone heads/eyes so your pattern is properly weighted.

so these items are EXCLUDED from the 2 material mandate?

These are "free' materials and DO NOT count a one of your materials used to tie.  Feel free to include them in your pattern.  I know that for you this makes this swap TOO easy! :)

Is UV resin an ingredient if it is used to do more than secure the thread or materials where head cement, clear nail polish, or super glue could otherwise be used?  My thought was that a UV resin "poxyback" wing case would count as an ingredient but not sure.

ANY head cement material can be used as a freebee - even if your aim is off! :)

This is a FUN swap not a strict RULES swap!  I want people to use their imagination and have some FUN!

Kim

BTW, when I used to teach instructors how to teach I taught - "TELL your students what you are going to tell them, TELL them, then TELL them you told them!  So this is a FUN swap.

My pattern is going to be Frank Sawyer's Killer Bug. And no, I don't have the original and authentic Chadwick's 477 yarn (uh, currently $207 for a single card! on ebay). However, I'll be using Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift in Oyster, which looks pretty good.
