It’s always a surprise when I tighten the thread and the hair spins; was planning on a shaped head but I liked this one as is and  left it untrimmed, except for a couple errant fibers.

hook - Dai Riki 300 #10
thread - Uni 6/0 camel
tail - moose body
rib - tying thread
body - elk hair
shoulder - sharptail grouse
collar/head - deer hair

Regards,
Scott

Klinkinhammmer hook.  synthetic hair for abdomen.  wing case from thin skin and duck body feather for thorax.

Three bass and one crappie on this the other day.

Very frustrating when you don't know when to stop and you hack a hunk of the collar off. Good thing it will still fish.

Poop you may want to put a mono loop under that tail.

I put a mono loop or some bucktail on some of the longer ones but this one is only a 4" micro  tail so I didn't think fouling would be to big an issue.

I long ago gave up on mono loops for patterns that have a tendency to foul when wet (long saddles, rabbit strip, maribou, etc.).

Instead I much prefer a sparse amount of bucktail as an “under wing” tied in first to allow the tail to have something to lay on, preventing it from wrapping around the hook.  Works very well for me instead of that mono loop...

You’re right . It shouldn’t be. Didn’t realize it was a micro.
