WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2021 If I have enough for 2 for each swapper I always give that priority. The donation box is for the extra 1's, 2's, etc. Like I said i then tie at minimum 1 fly for every fly from the donation box and send them in to Casting for Recovery and the like. WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2021 I'm back after an almost 2 week hiatus! My aunt had knee replacement surgery and I'll give you one guess who drew the short straw!🙂 She was staying at my Mom's house and I had no access to my/ANY computer. Things should go smoothly now that I'm back home and life is back to normal! I did have Noahguide's and John1982's flies waiting (PATIENTLY!) in my mailbox - both sets are some fine ties! Kim By the way, this is the 2 week warning for all swappers that have yet to send in their flies. Just a friendly reminder from your friendly swap host!!😉
vicrider 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2021 I don't need the reminder. I just need to get them in. Since I'm the Swap Mod I always push others but like we all know life can sometimes get in the way. I tied a set of grubs quickly, then wanted to do some adults. Health problems, visits to offices and home health care and minimum mobility has backed me up on everything. I will try to make sure I get them out tomorrow and will include some Jim Teeny nymphs I tied for another swap that fell apart and add one of those to the grubs. The Teeny nymph is a simple design that Jim has caught fish every where he goes on it. It is pretty much all he fishes and he makes the fish eat it. Hope your aunt's knee recovery goes well. Mine came out good and has been fine for over 20 years now. It took quite awhile to really know it was not real down there but after maybe 6 months or so it became natural and in a year it was only the scar that reminded me it was done. WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2021 She's home and doing fine and thanks for asking. You won't believe this but I got a call last night and my mother feel and twisted her knee!!🥺. So I am BACK at her house for a couple more days to watch over her! I did send out an E-mail to all my relatives that if they develop bad legs and want me to come and care for them that I'll treat them like a horse and SHOOT them! I think that that may limit calls for my help!😊 As far as the 2-week reminder - I just like to show off and say that I'm justifying the big money us Swapmeisters make!😉. vicrider 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2021 When you get caught up with your relatives you could come give my wife a hand caring for me. I've been on and off fighting edema and cellulitus (sp) in my lower legs. Bacteria resistant and right leg erupted so I've got home health coming in to change out dressings and apply silver pads which burn like a blow torch on the open wounds. Then, just for amusement I went to sit on my walker seat in kitchen while cooking breakfast and walker slid backwards I crashed straight back smacking back on walker seat and landing hard on tailbone. First time I've crashed since I fell and broke femur a couple of years ago and just laid there and caught my breath for a bit. Managed to get back up and take inventory and sore tailbone, sore shoulder and back. I did get flies together and wife got them in mail today so I should skid in under deadline but never got to tie the long legged adult I wanted to. WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2021 No problem, I'm looking forward to seeing whatever you chose to do! As far as helping your wife out - you did see that "horse" comment I made didn't you? Have your wife contact me if she thinks this will help her out! My Dad had cellulitus once when they were in Florida for the winter. - my Mom called me and gave the best phrasiology I had ever heard. Here are her exact words - "A nurse said that this was the worst case that she had ever seen - AND SHE DIDN'T LOOK THAT YOUNG!". My Dad's entire calf looked like an eggplant - and he was the type that would finally go to the hospital 2 weeks AFTER he was dead!! I do wish you the best my friend and hope that all gets better. If you do need I do have a roll of bubble wrap. After I take care of my Mom I'll send you the rest! Kim
WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2021 A quick update for all swappers. I told you about my aunt and her knee replacement earlier - all is still going well BUT after I was home two days I got a call that my Mom had fallen and twisted HER knee!😳 I just got home today fo resupply my meds and for a Monday AM trip I have to the hospital - need an infusion every 4th Monday due to my transplant. I MAY have to go back to nurse my Mom some more. If I do it will have minimal effect on this swap. One is that I will NOT be able to confirm the day your flies arrive BUT I will alert the thread when I do get back home and get my mail to confirm that I got your flies. Second, AT WORST there may be a delay of no more than one business day before I send the flies back to you and PM you your USPS tracking number. Lastly, my follow up on late arrivals may not be as well monitored as I have in the past so PLEASE notify me if you get your flies in the mail near/on/AFTER the due date. I can work with you as long as the communication lines are open (i.e. - PLEASE don't just drop off the face of the earth!). I know life can get in the way sometimes - just reread the above! I don't wish this on anyone, but, if something happens just let me know so things work out for all concerned. I do want to appologize to all of you and I will include a little extra to help make ammends. For those who have swapped with me before I think you know my reputation and for those who are new to my swaps things will be better in the future or maybe I'll disown my family!! 😉Most importantly I hope you all have fun! WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2021 ---This is a one week warning to all swappers - your flies are due to me by next Monday, August 30th.--- I want to thank all of you for participating in this swap and a special thanks to those who have already sent their flies! I hope that you all had fun! Kim
WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2021 I got some fine ties from psychoprince and danthebugman in the mail today. One more and we are done. Kim
WWKimba 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2021 Just a heads-up, the one fly missing is from someone that I have not heard from since they signed up for this swap. I have given them a 5th (and final) request that they contact me by tomorrow night. If no contact he is out of the swap and there will be an extra fly - let me know if you want your extra back. If I don't hear from you I'll add it to my donation box. For those who are new to my swaps - the extra flies are held until I get a request for a donation (most from either Casting for the Cure or Project healing Waters) I then pull flies from this box, tie AT LEAST one of my own for each fly pulled and donate the lot to the not-for-profit organization. I'll be mailing the flies by Wednesday's mail if i don't hear back re: the missing flies. Kim
