August Flies From the Vise

I’ll skip the partridge shoulder next time; gets lost in the shuffle.

hook - WFC Model 3 #10
thread - MFC 8/0 sand
tail - deer hair
rib - xsmall wire silver
abdomen- medium tinsel pearl
body hackle - badger 
wing - deer hair 
shoulder - partridge
thorax - Ice Dub pearl
front hackle - grizzly

I think it will catch cold water fish too, pretty well actually. I like that fly.

Hook – Mustad R73-9671 or R74-9672, size 4-12 (or equivalent)
Thread – Black
Weight – Lead/lead free wire (optional)
Tails – Stripped brown hackle stems
Ribbing – Flat gold tinsel
Body – Gray spun angora, muskrat dubbing or uni yarn
Wing case – Turkey tail fibers
Legs – Brown hackle
Thorax - Gray spun angora, muskrat dubbing or uni yarn
Antennae – Stripped brown hackle stems

Hook - Mustad R73-9671, S82-3906B (or equivalent), size 8-16

Thread - Black

Tail - Moose body hairs or brown hackle fibers

Ribbing - Stripped peacock eye

Body - Brown floss or uni stretch

Wing Case - Mottled turkey quill

Legs - Brown hen hackle

Thorax - Peacock herl

Tying note - Substitute tan thread, uni stretch, spanflex etc for the stripped peacock eye for added durability

Found this here, with just a few minor changes. For anything smaller than a #12, I’d use 1mm foam for the shellback.

hook - WFC Model 28 #10
thread - Uni 6/0 tan
abdomen- medium tinsel opal 
shellback - 2mm foam tan
thorax - Ice Dub hare’s ear
wing - deer hair

Hook - Straight shank streamer or up eye salmon style hook, size 6 - 3/0

Weight - Lead/lead free wire

Thread - White

Tail - White bucktail

Upper tail and back - Black ostrich herls

Body - Cream dubbing or wool yarn

Head and hackle - Deer hair

Add representation of gills using red dubbing, yarn or marker if desired

NIce tie!  I think your fly would definitely catch our local brookies, the plastic tube is an interesting idea.
