A fine  fly for the salt around my parts !

Thanks.  I hooked into some nice bass feeding along a rocky shore with this even though they were eating ~2 in peanut bunker.

This is called an Electric Chicken. It was posted online last week. I tied it on a B10S hook and will use it tomorrow chasing smallies. I will add the pattern if it catches anything.

Darling’s Bling Spider

That's a good looking fly Scott  I'm not a big fan of the bling , but I think I'll tie a few of those up.

@BillNye the flat-wing streamer guy, nice!

Dang @Moshup  - that's pretty good for a salty boy.

Merci beaucups !   I started tying dries when I was twelve.  They’re my favorite.  I’m a hackle

addict.

Over on the saltwater side of things I’ve noted a big difference between older tyers and folks who only came into the hobby in the last 20 years or so.  Most of them are tying with synthetic materials while guys like me are still using feathers, fur, and other more traditional stuff.  It’s very noticeable to me…

Here is a simple small winged ant pattern.  I actually tied these to imitate a really small gnat that hatches around here Sept - October.  The natural is somewhere in the #26-#32 range and they come black and brown.  (If anyone knows what the name of the really bug is please let me know)  These are tied on #20s which is the smallest dry fly hook I had and I purposely tied them a short to try to get them into the correct size range.

SMALL ANT

HOOK: DRY FLY #20

THREAD: BLACK OR BROWN

ABDOMEN: THREAD WITH LOON THIN FLOW UV.

THORAX-LEGS:  LIFECYCLE CADDIS DUBBING BLACK OR BROWN

WING: PEARL FLASH

HEAD:      SH HARD AS NAILS

Yup I agree Capt.  i’ve tied for salt and for fresh a longtime now and a perfect example of the changes is that I’ve brought some muskrat,

fox and black bear down to my tying club to give away free and I get few takers which amazed me until I started realizing that many of these tyers were use to get their dubbing out of a plastic cubicle.  One of the things that I love about tying is dealing with all the materials that go into our creations.  It’s like being an alchemist or a magician if you will.  This sense it lost on more than a few people coming aboard.  I use synthetics but mostly to compliment my feathers and fur.  There’s no wrong way but that’s just me.
