September Flies From the Vise

For a friend.  Using some of the ingredients from a steelhead version.

hook - WFC Model 6 #6
thread - Uni 6/0 black
tag - medium tinsel gold
rib - small wire gold 
abdomen - UniStretch yellow
thorax - dubbing claret
shoulder - claret 
head/collar - deer hair dyed claret (1Tbs Rit Wine 1 cup water)

A bit of a difference in the color of the ungulate hair, probably due to pronghorn’s ability to soak up the dye.

hook - Maruto 7989 #10
thread - Uni 6/0 black

tail - golden pheasant crest
rib - small wire gold 
abdomen - UniStretch yellow
thorax - dubbing claret
shoulder - claret 
head/collar - pronghorn hair dyed claret (1Tbs Rit Wine 1 cup water)

First one looked a bit static so I decided to liven things up a bit.

hook - Maruto 7989 #10
thread - UTC 140 burnt orange 
tail - pheasant tail 
shuck/rib- FTD Northern Lights copper/black
abdomen - dubbing rusty orange 
hackle (tip tied) - grizzly dyed orange (1 Tbs Rit Sunshine Orange/ 1 cup water) 
thorax - Ice Dub hot orange 
wing - deer hair
lip - 2mm foam brown

Saw the call for some new blood in these threads, so I figured I would hop over and post my tie from last night! 

Itsy bitsy spider

hook: TMC 100 size 18

Thread: semperfli nano silk 18/0 dark brown

Underbody: brown beaver dubbing

Abdomen: 1.5mm foam colored with permanent marker 

Thorax: brown pheasant tail fibres reversed over dubbing underbody

Legs: Japanese Nymph Legs colored with permanent marker to match

Nice spider. That thing sends chills up my spine. Personally, I hate spiders, if I saw that thing on me I'd try to swat it off and that would only lead to more problems. I'd fish with it though.

If its spiders you want, here's one I did a while back.

Golden Orb, yes it's big, but so are they.

Nice tie on the small one.

I am with you there! I actually had a big nasty one drop on my shoulder while fishing, and instinctively tried to swat it off....promptly broke my rod tip in the tree it came from. 😂

Thanks, Kim! It certainly doesn't fit the "traditional" spider category! Haha!
