Uni Thread Color Code Equivalent to Danville Olive?

Recommended Posts

I prefer the handling of Uni thread to that of Danville, although I use both. I like the color of Danville Olive Flymaster. What is the color code (or the name they use) for the equivalent color in the Uni thread lineup?

Thanks.

there are a lot of photos online to do a comparison.

each brand carries different hues of olive

pick the one that closely resemble each other

there may not be an exact color match

olive thread fly tying - Google Search

Danville Chenille Company Inc.

UNI Products, Flytying material and fly tying thread by a small Canadian company.

Not a great match, but the olive dun is probably the closest.  Hard to tell on a computer monitor.  I'll go through my desk and see if I have these two.

Something to note about Danville's threads... in recent years I've gotten one or two boxes of their thread (12 spools per box, in whatever color I need...) that weren't their usual standard colors (at least not what I'd been getting previously...).  As a result I've switched over to Uni thread in one particular color to get back some consistency... At times there's a definite disadvantage to being a guy who orders stuff in bulk sight unseen (but I've learned to deal with it...).  There are definite advantages to being able to take a used spool of thread to your local shop to get an exact color match...

Hope this helps..

I have Danville light olive, which is a light green olive. Nothing else I've got compares, except Pearsall's #20 light olive. I don't have the Danville regular olive, which looks like more of a light brown from the pic. From what I have it looks like it's somewhere between Uni tan (which is lighter) and uni dun olive (which is darker)
