Couple of what I use as dragonfly nymphs in size 6, inspired by McFly's recent video on the carp fly and my need for more panfish bugs.

Those have got to be some of the best Bluegill bugs I have seen.  Now I am new to this fly tying, but to date I like a lot.

Hey Coin, thanks.  Its a pretty easy tie with common and inexpensive materials.  If you haven't already, take a look at McFly's post and video The Carp Bug, basically the same thing.  Even though you say you're new to tying, you probably know this by now but I'll say it anyway, don't be afraid to substitute different materials/colors for what an original pattern calls for.

Except for the hook, you can probably get all you need to tie this bug a craft store or Wal-fart.

Tie some up and let us see them.

Cool little fly Rick, I never heard of it before.  I had to look it up.  If not mylar tubing, what are you using for the over/underbody?

Is it "Truly Deadly" or is that just a fancy name? Have you fished it very much? It's a neat looking fly.

its the name given on the website i got it from

While we're not exactly sure if Bristol New Hampshire's own Mr. Charlie Poole in fact originated the Truly Deadly? One thing is for certain! From his quaint little long-missed fly shop, sure made the pattern popular! An especially productive attractor nymph that's perfect for prospecting slower deeper pools and swifter moving runs alike, this heavily-weighted bug works equally well by itself, or when fished in tandem with a smaller dropper fly trailing off its bend. With bold, brightly contrasting colors that seem to elicit an aggressive response not only from trout, but from landlocked salmon too, the Truly Deadly is... well, truly deadly!

i just tied it an hour ago
