Beadhead Stragglers:

Hook: Mustad 3906B nymph, #16

Thread: Uni-Thread

Bead: 2.5mm tungsten

Tail: Krystal Flash

Body: Semperfli Straggle String

Since the water temperatures have dropped the big bluegills have headed for deeper water. This little fly drops like a rock and definitely fits the definition of buggy.

Looks pretty good, Sandan, is that your final answer?

As an aside, how is the Kapok to work with?  does it dub easily, tightly?

@niveker, thanks. That was just my first answer. There will be more.

The kapok is interesting stuff. It does dub tightly and easily. But the fibers are really short and it has a tendency to clump rather than make an even noodle. Also, I find that it gets dirty easily.  I like to either use a loop or split the thread when I'm using it. It floats great. I'd give it an 8.

Tailwater time is just around the corner. Hopefully, the jig hook cuts down on snags; anything that lessens that chance and having to re-rig with frozen fingers would be appreciated.

bead - 3.8mm slotted tungsten hot pink
thread - Danville 6/0 fluoro pink
rib - xsmall wire silver
