More likely I'll use them for panfish, since we don't have any giant stonefly hatches around here. Nice ties, Philly. We don't have big stones here either, not sure what the trouts take it for, moth, hopper, but they take it. 11 hours ago, upnorthtier said: moose wing thunder and lightning Thats impressive

I'm not sure about that. A few years ago I was overturning some rocks in the Ottauquechee River in central Vermont and found a giant yellow stonefly nymph, made me think about the size of the nymphs I was fishing. WWKimba 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2022 Ann's ties - Day 8 and the last day. Hansen's Drake - The tag in the picture has a typo! Ann designed this pattern for a long-time customer and friend of hers, "Dad" Hansen. It's a nice all-around, all-season pattern that, if tied on a 3XL, 8-12 hook can even imitate the Michigan Hex hatch. Hook - Mustad 94840 (or 94833), 10-16 Thread - black Tail - 2-3 PT fibers Body - mottled turkey wing fibers Wing - blue dun hackle tips Hackle - brown dry fly, tied medium heavy

WWKimba 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2022 A pattern from Rainy Riding. Rainy's Bead Back Scud - Originally from Utah, Rainy now lives in Thailand where her fly tying business is located. She has over 350 fly patterns that she has designed and sells - most of which she has the ideas for when she sleeps! This pattern came to her at 3 AM one night in 1984. Check out how the beads form the transparent shell on this tie. This pattern is featured in Joe J. Warren's Tying Glass Bead Flies (December 1, 1997). Hook - Daiichi 1150mor 1250, 12-16 Thread - color to match beads Back - 4-6 glass beads, color to suit Legs - sparkle dub or antron, after tying in should be brushed down (these are a little wild due to transport)
