Canada last week

Recommended Posts

Spent four days on Eagle lake last week. Our goal was to spend as much of the time as possible chasing smallies with flyrods. We caught a lot of great fish, primarily on Tequeelys.

We had a number of Northerns bite us off, but landed several nice ones.

Now I know the next fish is small, but it is my first lake walleye on the fly. It was released.

One of the highlights of the trip was going to a lake that had Lake Trout. They were still in the top 10-15 feet of the water column and I caught my first on the fly tied by iHang10 (from a previous swap)

We primarily fished for the Lakers with jigs and minnows. We were only able to fish for three hours before the rain and running out of 7 dozen minnows ran us off the lake. The guide kept track and we landed 76 Lake Trout in those three hours. It was an extraordinary morning, but nothing beat smallies on the fly..

Nice fish. That looks to be about the average size of the walleye I caught on a fly rod over the years of fishing Lady Evelyn Lake. Never could catch anything over 15 inches.
