  1. Agreed^^^... I left out that I don't ever shop at the retail orvis shops, I only stick to the outlets.
  2. I skimmed the replies, sorry if this was mentioned, but if you have an Orvis outlet store near you... check it out. I have two outlets within a hour of me, everytime I'm in the area I stop in. Sometimes the supplies are low, and sometimes you'll be blown away. you usually don't have your pick of every color material, but they try to keep a well rounded offering. My most recent trip a few weeks ago, everything was 70% fly tying materials, I got packs EP fibers for $2.10!!!
  3. I'm not transferring bags, I just stick the magnetic tape to the original bag. I agree, the bags they come in are generally good, and the right size. I like the ring idea, but I don't want duct tape on the bags.
  4. I've been working on this type of solution as well, and like Piker20, I found that poking holes in the bags myself wasn't ideal. Nor did I care for the corkboard and thumbtack approach that I tried. I also tried sticking strips of velcro to the bags and hanging them, but the velcro likes to grab every kind of material and once I ruined a few hackles I threw that idea out the window. My latest idea is working very well for me... I picked up a 25 foot roll of 1 inch wide magnetic tape for about $5 (it's just like refrigerator magnets), and I stick a strip to the bottom of the bags. Right now I am sticking the bags to a thin metal dry erase board I had laying around, but I'm working on finding a better surface to use that is still inexpensive and can be cut and shaped for the areas I need to mount it. I really like the idea the OP brought up, I didn't think of using those bags that have the rings through them... I have a unique desk setup and I might be able to use the ring ideal as well as the magnets. More to come, thanks for sharing!
  5. Check out the Regal vises, for an extra $10 you can buy a spike for them that lets you tie streamside, or anyplace that has a piece of wood that you can drive the spike into. The spike setup is not a "traveler" in the sense that you can bring it with you and tie at the desk in your hotel room, but it is a streamside traveler. IMO, It's a nice vise to tie on at home, and taking just the vise head and spike with you to the stream makes for a very compact and useful field vise. Cheers
