FishHead765 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2019 I am trying to ID a bobbin I inherited from my deceased grandfather. Doe anyone have any knowledge of the maker and the time period?
flytire 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2019 I've never seen one like that so it would be wrong to assume Any markings/stamping/patent number?
Meeshka 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2019 I think it predates me by a bit. From my research on google it appears to be at least 80 years old, no manufacturer was identified. One however sold last June on E bay for $22 USD. Hope this helps Douig
FishHead765 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2019 There are no marks on it at all. I loaded it up and finished off a popper fly I was working on. The little knob is a screw that adjusts tension. It might be better to call it drag because tension is achieved by the spool rubbing against the frame.

mikechell 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2019 It's well manufactured ... over-manufactured actually ... so it must have been production at some time. But I can't find anything about it online other than Meeshka's results.

Crackaig 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2019 That's easy. I'm surprised no one has got it. It is a UTC bobbin. The bobbin holder it is in though, I haven't a clue. Cheers, C.
