This is my version of the Batman Nymph. I used the recipe from Jaydub posted on another thread. A local caught around 20 or so rainbows on this fly a few days ago in the National Park.

Hook: any reasonable nymph hook (these are size 14 and 12)

Thread: purple

Bead: gold bead

Ribbing: I used fine blue wire but any fine wire will work

Body: Purple Ice dub

Tail: brown goose biots

Wings: black goose biots

Hackle: black hen saddle or neck hackle

Joe

Fletch tight drys pretty fast, it's like contact cement.

I haven't used the gorilla glue clear Mike, I'm not a big fan of their products as a whole though, doesn't seem better than most comparable products often times not as good and always costs more. The toughened/flexible ca glues are something I want to try I'll have to remember to grab some next time I'm at rockler. It's 10$ for a 2oz bottle which is a lot of super glue.

This glue, only way I'll buy ca glues anymore.

Most of the insects on which trout feed here in the Smoky Mountains are all yellow, have some yellow, or have some kind of yellow shades in their makeup. I wanted to tie a nymph on the lines of the Copper John, but in a mostly yellow color. This is what I have come up with. Having the bead and wire body it should sink fast.

Hook: #14 nymph hook

Thread: Yellow

Bead: Gold bead

Tail: Ginger goose biots

Body: Yellow wire

Thorax: Yellow possum dubbing

Wing casing and legs: Dyed yellow duck wing quill.

The original Mole fly is a killer. I tie em PMD or BWO or Red Quill depending on what's happening. Usually fish it as a dropper behind a dry.
