Just got the word (10:00Am Friday, 6 Oct) that Flamingo re-opens tomorrow... Heard it from another guide then called the Visitor Center and verified it.... Yippee!!!

Now for the details.... The opening is strictly for day use only 7Am-7Pm. No facilities at all down at Flamingo - no bathrooms, no gas pumps, no marina store, etc. The nearest porta-potties will be at West Lake.... So we're going to be parachuting in then back out (bring everything you need since you won't have any resources down there).

Looks like I'll be fishing out of Flamingo on Monday.... No word on when the campsites and other amenities will re-open but this is a good start - and much sooner than I expected.....

Meanwhile, the St. Johns River is at record flood levels ... more than 17.6 feet over normal.
