jhammer 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 I always thought Friday the 13th was bad luck, but apparently it's all superstition. We had a series of bad storms roll through this afternoon, and some more were on the way. I managed to sneak in some fishing for about an hour until a loud clap of thunder signaled the end of my adventure. Since we had some storms and rain roll through, I didn't expect to catch much. The ponds were nice and still, so I tied on a foam ant to try fishing on the surface. The action was HOT! I was getting strikes on almost every cast. I caught 5 Bluegill and 3 Largemouth Bass. One of the bass was quite a porker!

bluegill576 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 Nice fish. I haven't ever caught bass on a foam ant before. What size were you you using?
jhammer 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 Size 8. The fly looked so tiny when compared to it's mouth!
bluegill576 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2011 I just looked at the pic of the bass and is the ant green?
jhammer 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2011 Yes, it's light green with white legs. In those ponds, black works equally as well.
