  1. Yeah. That is why I did not get a kit. The only materials I got were for the one woolly bugger. I am starting with that one then I will move to a few others. Testing the water.
  2. I looked around the forum a little but did not find anything. Where are the best places to buy materials. I know the BPS here have stuff. But are there better options. As far as price and quality.
  3. I bought a vise and an employee at one of the BPS got me the materials to buy for a Woolly Bugger. I made three from the book I have. One regular, one need head, and one on a small jig head. I need to figure out a way to post them and get some advice and criticism on them. The vise I got was $24 bucks and came with a bobbin, hackel pliers, bobbin threaded then a scissors and a few other things. Then I just got the bares needed for that one fly in three styles(hooks and beads) I only have the one fly and color but it is a start.
  4. Chase the name is from the Army. I am a Cavalry Scout. Well was I had to reclassified to promote. Thanks everyone for the advise. It is great to have this type of forum and response. I plan to look and get started here in the near, near future. As soon Ans I can that is...
  5. First off. Thanks! FlaFly-I am from Wisconsin. Born and raised. My wife and I moved to Texas from MN about 6 years ago. Golfer- I live on the north side. Near the woodlands. Not in them but close. I am wanting to get up to lake conroe and try my hand at this up there. I do on the other hand work on the south side and I will have to try and get out sometime to the meeting. Mike- I have been to the BPS but not for a long time. I am looking to make a run out there here in a week or so. Again thank you for the help!
  6. I am new to all of this. What is a good kit to start with? I work a lot so I would like to start small just incase time gets the best of me and I do not get to do this much. Any help is appreciated! Robert
  7. Hello. My name is Robert. I am new to Fly Fishing. Have a rod and reel that has never been used. I really like the idea of fly fishing. Have ever since A River Runs Through It. I want to learn. Have read countless books and even watched a few vids. If there is anyone in my neck of the south...let me know I am would be up to go out and learn if you were willing to teach...or at least give some pointers. I also would like to get into tying my own flys. Hope to learn something while here. Robert
