Fly Tying

Recommended Posts

Here is another simple pattern - COAF Damsel Fly, that seems to be a consistent producer of Bass and on occasion a Catfish. Used it today at a local pond. Although the action was slow, and was able to catch a Bluegill, a Sunfish, a Catfish (using a Tube version of the same pattern), and a Bass that went just under 15".

Brought the five weight fly rod and more COAF Damsel Flies. This time, added a little white marabou so we can see it a little better in the water.

Had a number of Bass ignore the COAF Damsel Fly, had two others consider it but did not strike, and had three that went for it! Fun stuff! Today's Video

Tied a few fishing flies for the weekend. Had not tied a COAF Damsel Fly in awhile; sure could have used one at the local pond today! Post. Tied two in purple as well as some Near Deere.

your "COAF damsel fly" is a clouser minnow tied with marabou...

We think so too, except when we "reverse engineered" a damsel fly we bought from a sporting good store, it came out that way save for adding more marabou to make sure it ride hook up.

Regardless, it works for us...

Purple Damsel Fly worked for three bass this round today. Was not planning on fishing but there was a break in the rain. So, grabbed the first rod that was handy... was the Switch Rod! Video.
