Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 Interesting. Never used a soft hackle for river smallies. This year I shall try one.
Brian Myers 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Last summer the water was low and clear most of the time I was fishing. I wasn't hooking up with much more than small fish and had to work for them until I started fishing size 10 and 12 soft hackles in tandem under an indicator. These I tied up to fish more like streamers but will tie up some more in size 10 in colors to mimic dragon fly nymphs for one area I fish that gets weedy. Bryon Anderson 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Those are cool! I fish for river smallmouth more than anything else through the summer; I've never tried soft hackles but I will now. Thanks for sharing.
