Pretty cool stuff. I want some like yours the has more brown in it.
Like most things it's another tool in the tool box and has an appropriate
application. Maybe I can figure out some inappropriate applications or
at least "new" ones.
The other thing is that it really doesn't taper so it might make things easier

like having the darker bands appear at the thicker part of the abdomen
when wrapping bodies.
I may also pick up some shorter stuff hoping it is a bit thinner in terms of segmentation
width.

body - blue floss or uni-stretch
throat - red hackle fibers

A Nova Scotia salmon pattern from the 1930's, attributed to guide Dan MacIntosh. Tied here as a notional October Caddis; change color/size to suit your needs. Basic construction, characterized by a thin body (rear 1/2 of the hook), long (2x hook length) wing tied flat to the body, and dense hackle; can be fished either wet or dry

hook – Mustad 94840 #6
thread - Danville 6/0 rusty brown
body - Congo Hair orange
wing - fox squirrel tail
hackle - grizzly dyed rust/brown

royal cubbage

 

hook - dry fly style

thread - black

tail - 2 fibers of peccary or moose body hair tied in long and widespread on each side

body - royal coachman style. the rear peacock herl it tied on in th rear befor the tails.

then the tails are tied in at each side. red floss is then tied in and wrapped to wing position

hackle - brown tied palmer over red floss only

wing - white calf tail

head - peacock herl

 

royal coachman style = peacock herl - red floss or equivalent - peacock herl combination

 

reference - named after tom cubbage
