Shoe,

Have you seen the braided SJW I posted on the Ark/Mo forum? The idea came from Jimmy T. Take a gander.

Yeah, but where's the hook? laugh.gif dunno.gif

Wayne,

They'll also take a #6 Panther Martin in gold. We call that the "brass caddis"... bugeyes.gif tongue.gif
I know where they live, I know what they eat. Now it's time to fool them with thread, feathers and roadkill.

arkie,

try using a product called ultra braid for your SJW. makes a great body and has lots of movement. it is basically what you have done with your material (braided ultra chenille). it is available in a ton of colors and sizes too. they just came out with a braided antron chennile type too. looks great when wet

Here it is the 2nd of Feb. and the fishin' has been a bit slow. A couple of guides I know were on the lake for 6 hours last weekend and boated 3 fish.

As soon as ya get here, find out how many of the turbines they are running and when to time your fishing.

From what I've heard, scuds(white, tan and olive), Tiger Midges(copper wire) and smaller Woolies are the menu specials.

A couple of weeks ago, during a warm break, I picked up a couple of smallies in Bull Shoals. My biggest trout this year so far was a 12 inch RB.

If ya can check out River Run Outfitters on the way to the dam, Shannon usually knows whats going on.

Thanks......I have the small woooly buggers but need to work on the others.
Fly fishing is like sex. The first time is never like you thought it would be, but you never forget it. You get better with experience. You think about it alot. You do it when ever you can until you die. You always have fun no matter what.

Hey Sippy,

I took the Misfit prototype out of it's protective cover and found it seemed smaller that the ones you guys fished down there. The one I have is tied on a 12. Somehow, I was under the impression that it was tied on a 10 or even an 8 2X long

BTW, I found some tung beads in copper

Trout Traveler, those look great! smile.gif

Shoe, the first ones were tied on a mustad 3399 size 10 nymph hook. There probably were a few 2x 10's(R70) in the mix, as well. After that, I tied up a bunch of 12's that worked well.

I've tied up some on 14's for the anticipated trip using some 3/32 tungsten beads since small buggers seems to be the word. wink.gif These beads were ones I bought a long time ago.

Got you list completed?? wink.gif
You can spend a fortune on premium feathers and it doesn't mean you'll tie a perfect fly. It just means you have the materials from a good looking chicken.

Not quite

A couple of the boys came over last night and we tied one... I mean tied some laugh.gif dunno.gif

Marty and John tied some misfits, I did a few blood midges and gave some sculpin lessons. My poor woodchuck is starting to look like the "advanced" stage of the mange. bugeyes.gif By 11 John's shad looked much like the stonefly I tied at your house a couple of years ago...LOL

I guess the shad are coming down now.
