Don't now how i missed this thread! Years ago i grabbed the leader in some kind of idiot panic, the seatrout was much bigger then the net i had, tippet broke! When i told a old seasoned angler friend what happened, he gave me a wack & said don't you EVER touch a fly line again! That's why we have a fly rod to act as a shock absorber! I've never touched a line since, don't know if it helps in every case? But i don't want to find out again!:-)
