Okay ... Liberia was a fishing bust.  But the experience was one I'll never forget.  I left there on a Sunday ... they stopped all flights out the following Tuesday.  I beat the "clock" by just two days.

Hawaii wasn't as bad, I did catch a few fish ... which I posted on the other "fish you've caught" thread.

Tomorrow morning, I leave for Cape Disappointment (Ilwaco) Wa.  That's a capital "i" small "L" ... waco.  Then a second week in Washington is some town called Seattle.

I don't know if I'll get to do any fishing, but when wife gets there next weekend, she and I will have been to all 50 States.

Good luck at Cape D.   Are you going to get a boat ride? :)

I'm missing two states I think.   Hawaii for sure and Nebraska or Iowa maybe?  I a shot glass collection packed away with one from each state.   I should get it out and look to see what I'm missing.

If you've visited all but two you're much better than most of us.  I've only been to 10, not counting the ones I just drove through enroute.

You can count ones you drove through.  Wife and I have stopped and tried to find birds or scenery in each State, but we haven't actually spent a night in each State.  If you were in the State, it counts.  Flying over it does not.

Joel,

I don't know.  I know I am not going to get a whole say, so I won't be paying a guide.  If one of the attendees to the class is a boater, I might get to go with them.  But reports are, the salmon are still being caught off jetties and docks.  And a small lake here supposedly has 20 inch trout in it.  Still not sure if I want to pay the license fee.  It's pretty high in Washington.

I don't know Mike... somehow it seems wrong... all I saw of the intervening states was interstate highway and the occasional McDonalds (or whatever)... looks the same in every state.  Can't tell  you one distinguishing feature of those states.  Thinking back on my life, I can probably add about six more states that count (way back when I was young).

So ... no one on this site is from Seattle?

I guess it doesn't matter ... supposed to be raining from Tuesday on.

I can't help myself... I have to say that Cape Disappointment sounds a lot more appropriate for the other Washington.  n'est pas?

BTW Mike, you can search in Members... click on more search options, scroll down to location and type Washington... you'll get hundreds.  Can't say how many might be current, but you can search by multiple filters and maybe find out.

Yeah, I "pas".  Capital Disappointment ... or as I said to Wife a few years ago, "Washington, D.C. stands for Disaster Central."

If they aren't active, I am not going to look them up.  If they are active and haven't responded, I am not going to intrude.

As with all the other places I go ... I'll be just fine by myself.

Short trip of two weeks coming up.  I'll be in Spring, Texas ... north of Houston ... from the 2nd to the 15th of November.

Anybody know of any events?  Want to take an old fisherman out on a boat for a day or two the weekend of Nov. 8th and 9th?

Don't know of events, but I used to live there.  I canoed and fly fished in the Highland lakes (mostly Lake Austin) ... caught a lot of Texas Cichlids.... good eatin'!

There are several guys on here that live in the Houston area that are active on the site, know that from hosting swaps.

Yeah, but just like most places I've gone, no one wants to go fishing on the days I'll be available.  Fortunately, I am good on my own.

Houston area is having cool but clear weather.  I arrived earlier today, and it was very pretty.  But I don't know what the creeks are like, yet.  It's 5:30, and the sun's down.  I hate the time change !!!
