  1. I bet they would work for Atlantic salmon here in Ireland. Great work mon ami.
  2. Graham, Those flies of yours are simply brilliant. Pedro.
  3. I never varnish my fishing flies...two whip finishes (5 turns each) with waxed thread are sufficient and I almost never have a problem with the thread coming undone. Pedro.

  6. Hey Daryn, I just got back from flytying in Québec and was at the official Granby launch of the stamps. Will post some photos later. All the flytyers at the show were given a set of 8 stamps free with draw tickets that they were selling to raise money for conservation. At the local post office I indulged and bought 10 more sets of stamps for myself and friends. I also ordered the postcards and playing cards as I think they will make superb gifts and will look fantastic when framed with the flies in question. Hazel Maltais was there and she signed my stamp collection as she tied one of the flies in question "The Mickey Finn" Thanks for posting the info. Pedrofly.

  10. JUst like to add my views. I have been using the Renzetti Traveller for years now and absolutely LOVE the little critter. Just spent the last weekend at the Flytying Forum at Granby in Québec Canada demonstrating flytying. Once again I was using my Traveller. Almost everyone that visited my bench found the vice to be most exquisit. There are superb vices on the market today and I personally own a totl L.A.W vice..superb piece of engineering and a great vice to use especially if you are tying Classic Salmon flies. Having said all that...I still use my Renzetti Traveller for tying classic salmon flies...even on hooks up to 9/0 in size. I have posted a few pictures on this site already of these two flies (in the salmon and steelhead area) Take a peep and you will see the jaws of my trusty Traveller. Finally it is all down to personal preference so choose the one that best fits your needs. Peter Dunne. Ireland
  11. I hope I have set this properly as I have never set up a poll before. I feel that the extra waxing of my threads in a very important aspect of my flytying especially for the tying of large classic salmon flies. Generally I tie these flies with unwaxed thread as I fo not wish the wax on most threads to discolour the floss body especially if I am using Japanese silks. But even when I am using waxed thread I feel that the extra waxing gives superior grip and so I need to use less thread to bind materials to the hook. I use custom made waxes (made by my flytying friends) of different types for different applications. A curious question I know. Pedro.
  12. QUOTE (TroutBum @ Jan 28 2005, 12:11 PM) Pedro, You will have my flies in a couple of weeks, would it help my chances if I told you I was half Irish? Trout bum, Can't wait to see your flies...I am sure they weill be superb. Thanks for participating...very much appreciated as you guys make the whole championship possible and very enjoyable. Pedro.
  13. QUOTE (calebB @ Jan 28 2005, 11:45 AM) Thanks Peter. I think I might enter flytying Ireland next year. I am pooped out tying contest flies right now. I also sent some flies in to the Mustad open competion. Caleb CalebB, You should do very well in the Mustad competition as I believe they will like your style of tying. Its a great contest too...I have very fond memories of it. Looking forward to your participation next year in the 2006 Irish Open Flytying Championships. Peter Dunne.
  14. Guys, I am off to Quebec tomorrow and couldn't leave without telling all of the winners in the FTF competition that I am stunned at the quality of their flies. I seriously hope that some of you guys will consider expanding your competitive flytying horizons across the waves and give our competition a go. You all are definitely competent enough to do very well indeed. It's not too late for this year's contest either. Visit us at www.flytying.sitestogo.biz Flies must be posted out on or before the end of February 2005. Congratulations to you all once again. Peter Dunne. Flytying Ireland.
  15. For the last 13 years I have tied on a Renzetti Traveller. The one I now have is the cam version and I really like it (my first one got destroyed on a Ryan Air flight). I also own a LAW vice, which is sensational piece of engineering and a superb vice to tie on...still I tie most of my flies on the Traveller as it suits my tying techniques (I love rotary tying) I have tied flies on hooks as large as 9/0 (tied another Nelly Bly yesterday and I am out of 8/0) and as small as 28... but mostly tie trout flies in the 22 to 10 sizes while my classic salmon tying is on hooks up to 9/0. No slippage either. I'm a happy camper. Pedro (aka Peter Dunne)
