  5. Hello fellow brothers and sisters of the Angle. As some of you already know I recently established Grasshopper Outdoor Products and our first product, which is aimed at the fishing industry, is currently under production. We hope to hit the shelves later this year, but at this point we haven’t decided upon a name for the new gizmo. To help us in this endeavor we thought it would be fun to hold a competition to solicit suggestions from the you guys. If you have a penchant for imaginative creativity we’d like to hear your ideas. Drop me an email at [email protected] and I’ll forward you a Non-Disclosure Agreement. This states that you won’t disclose the gizmo to anyone before the patent is approved. Once you sign the disclosure I’ll be able to forward you some CAD files with 3D renderings of the product (and if you live nearby I can let you have a play with a prototype). We’ll give you a description of what the gizmo does and how it does it. Hopefully you’ll have a few good ideas for what it should be called. As a “thank you” everyone submitting suggestions will be entered into a draw to be the first to own a gizmo by winning one of the first production pieces - before they enter the stores! If we find a great name that we chose to use we’ll award its creator with a new MP3 player. When emailing please use “Tag Competition” in the subject. Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Ian.
  6. You have to be kidding me! That Bee pattern is a sure winner. Well done! I was sure it was just a Bee glued to a hook! Some tallent there! Please tell me how to make it!!! Ian.
  7. Hi Detox, thanks, but ya don't see too many garages in NYC, let alone garage sales
  8. Hey Andy, thanks for the tips. Hopefully the additional savings from keeping me occupied in NYC while not fishing should make it financially worthwhile. Also, I'm hoping to cut a few start-up costs if there are a few guys out there with things they don't use and feel like passing them on. Of course, as is typically the case with these things, I'll be able to pay it forward once I start accumulating materials I find I have no further need for. That said, if there is anyone out there that can use some spin gear - rods, reels, floats and other tackle, I no longer use them and would be willing to swap them for fly tying tools/material or give them away to a good home. cheers, Ian.
  9. Hey guys. After fishing for some time now I'm trying to get into tying my own flies to save some money. I'm a PhD student in NY and as you know flyfishing is an expensive hobby. Unfortunately, I’m in love with it. I was wondering if any of you might have some tools or materials that perhaps you don't use or were planning to throw away? I'd be very grateful to take them off your hands (and of course pay postage). A friend already lent me a vice. Please drop me a line at [email protected] Cheers, Ian.
