  1. Old Thread, but I just found this -- I hope you landed some Salmon with that fly Rich, that is a Death Stonefly, not a Steelhead Hammer - -- I got tired of the Salmon thrashing my nice stoneflies.........so I came up with this fly, took a few years to finalize the pieces and parts You are very close on the materials.........my goodness, I have not tied many yellow ones !! Hook: Togen Size 2 Black Nickel Curved Salmon Hook Rib: Yellow Large wire Body: that is probably yellow Larva Lace Thorax: yellow estaz
  2. alright folks......there was no post of mine removed by any moderators........ I removed my response because some of you folks are not worth the effort TOOL -- definition-- one that is used or manipulated by another so, if any of you fellers felt I was calling them a TOOL in a negative manner......that is on your guilty conscience.....not mine...... Bottom is line that one man asked for help pertaining to fishing in a particular part of the state......and all you fellas had to say was: it blows-- I've done more to help the environment, promote our passion, and help our youth than most of you fellas...now I said most.....because there are few guys out there who go way beyond me......and that is awesome a few of you guys are true sportsman.....it shows in your comments............there are just too many folks who really like stirring the pot....because they have something to prove......good job.....you proved plenty........ VINCENT DICK JR. Ret. USN Ret. Waterways Conservation Officer for the PA Fish and Boat Commission Owner: 2Bonthewater Guide Service and before the....he only helped because he wanted the business..........stop that.......that wasn't the case.......not even close......but, think what you guys will......most of you guys know everything.........about the only thing I wanted from Mark was for him to accept an apology on behalf of all Pennsylvanians because of the responses in this thread..........some of you guys are just too awesome and all knowing...... won't visit this thread again.........Mark knows how to reach me...........maybe next time we'll get to share a drift on some water that blows bash away and have fun !!!
  3. Markbob........just stay home.....too many FF tools in PA to deal with !!!!
  4. Red Osier Dogwood..........a few other tree dudes out there.....nice........damn my Dendrology class.........we had our final in a hailstorm with about 12 inches of snow on the ground.....and the prof was just pointing out trees.......it was awesome....if we didn't know it.......a few stragglers would stay behind and dig until we found some leaves.......great class one time, the prof had us all grab a persimmon fruit......some ripe.....some not.........everyone bit into the fruit at the same time......some were like, oh so juicy........and for the unlucky ones...which included me........all got instant cotton mouth............lesson learned we even bowled with some osage oranges........good times.........
  5. I didn't say it "blows", you said your buddy did........all I was saying is that just because you can wade there now, does not mean that it "blows"
  6. sexy fish..........but, it looks cold......should have put a sweater on it !!!!
  7. I don't think the wading has much to do with the stream being labled as it "blows"
  8. I'd love to be ice fishing at the moment.........but, I have no ice So, post up those pics.......I'd love to see them.............. It was barely above single digits in PA last night.......and currently about 13 degrees..........so, if this keeps up, I might get to ice fish this season......normally, I can hit the hardwater a few days before Christmas......... bring on the cold !!!
  9. Welp, breeches and all the others are streams for when you where going to Harrisburg...... I am a retired officer for the PA Fish and Boat Commission-- and my area was: E. Berks and N. Montgomery County...........(which is close to where you will be---I live about 40 from Hamburg) if you are lucky, you might get some ice fishing in !!!!! enjoy what you can while you are here !!! There are a few streams close to Hamburg worth visiting...... Wading is allowed on the little lehigh in the --Heritage Section-- which is now just a fly fishing only section Any questions, give me a shout.......check out my website...... I just fished the little schuylkill river last week........I think I posted more pics on the guide service's facebook page....check out the photos.....and while you are there, please hit the LIKE button !!!!!!

  11. Thanks Horseshoes..............great midge selection.............very very nice !!! Merry Christmas..............HO Ho hOooo On a side note: Got a great gift from the wife and kids............they made a book with pictures of mine.........celebrating my first real year of being a guide..........pretty neat idea........
  12. Steak and Eggs....with a few midges thrown in......... Big streamers fished solo or with an egg pattern dropped off it............ and Shhh.......a pink worm.............been putting that to the test very hard the last few years........using pink worm flies..........and Berkley Pink Trout worms...........effective on stockies and wild brown trout.........
