TIER 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2020 First animal of the year! I literally was telling myself how much I wanted my first fish of the year. Then I though about my trapline. Then I though about how awesome it would be to catch the firs animal of the year. And lo and behold on my FIRST SET I caught one. I would of had two if my snare didn't break. DarrellP 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2020 Do you sell hides, eat them, or what? Looks like zonker strips on the hoof? Good job!
TIER 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2020 I just eat them. I also salvage the feet.
rockworm 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2020 It would be a shame to waste all that fine dubbing. You could preserve the skin or just the mask with salt and/or borax (a valuable learning experience if you don't already know how). Or you could just trim the fur off with clippers or scissors. Easy to wash, dye, blend and store. And save you lots of money on dubbing. What do you do with the feet? Are they snowshoe hares?
TIER 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2020 The feet are good for dry flies. I do have some patches of hide though. U want them?
rockworm 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2020 Thanks, but I already have more skins than I need. And yes- if they're snowshoe hares the feet are very good for dries.
