Fly Tying

Recommended Posts

I will be headed to the Smoky Mtns in May to do some fly fishing. Any advice for "honey hole" locations or what flies are essential? I want to avoid falling into the "you need every variation of these 10 flies" by the local fly shops 🙄 I've tied some elk hair caddis, yellow Sally stoneflies, red A ants (epoxy and non-epoxy), pheasant tail nymphs (no bead head), and squirmy wormies.

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Check the website for little river outfitters in Townsend. Byron gives a detailed flyfishing report daily. Call the shop and talk to Daniel drake. They have their finger on the pulse of the bite. Little yellow Sally's. Greenie weenies, bhe, ptn. Book reservations and eat at the Peddler. The Blackberry phenomenal hotel, grounds, and restaraunt.

I hired Ian Rutter a few years back out of Townsend. Great guy and I learned a lot on how to catch those little creek trout.

I also have is book which is loaded with excellent info.
