  1. The zebra midges worked well. Evidently the skiing wasn't much but the fishing better. Thanks for the advice.
  2. I have a friend going to Vail this week and I'd like to tie him a fly or two. Can anyone tell me what might be a good pattern? Thanks!! Bunt
  3. Ditto Fly South, Cumberland Transit and Bubba at Orvis Nashville. All those guys are helpful and knowledgable of local waters. Phone app TVA Lake Info will give you the generation schedule for the Dams. Caney Fork is under Center Hill Dam, Hiwassee is under Apalachia so be careful you're looking at the appropriate Dam for the Tailwater. There's some great rivers all over Middle TN with small mouth, rock bass etc. and as Mcgnat said TWRA has info on trout stocking programs in many of the same streams.
  4. Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I'll look these up and see which ones I might be able to tie. Is there a specific hopper I should look for? A video possibly? I've found that using pause/play/pause/play with one of the many great videos out there has helped me learn a lot. Here's a couple I feel pretty good about that work around here. Of course there's dozens more that were disassembled and started over. Thanks again.
  5. Hey there to you all. I'm new to the forum, I first tried searching (unsuccesfully though I'm sure it's my searching skills) for answers to this so I apologize for the probable redundancy. I'm fairly new to tying but am making progress with Wooly Buggers, Zebra midges, Pheasant Tails etc. I have a trip planned for the second week of August to Jackson Hole and was hoping to start tying some flies to take on my trip. I'm staying near the Salt but will also fish the Snake and anywhere else that's fishing good within driving distance. I was thinking a few dry patterns and streamers. Most of the fishing I do now is in tailwater and I use midges, nymphs and the like but enjoy using streamers with a sinking tip more. Any suggestions and links to patterns that work out there would be greatly appreciated. I'll most likely tie some and buy some but want to tie as much as I'm capable of. Thanks. I've really enjoyed reading the forum and should have registered earlier but I rarely participate in posting. I guess I'm pretty much a Noob all around. Bunt
