I know this has been done before, but I finally went to Wal-mart to look for it and I found this package for only $5. It feels the same as the fly tying foam I bought from sportsmans, which is the small orange piece on top, 2 of those cost me $2.

I second that. I love to find deals

Thanks guys I've been tying for about 3 1/2 months off and on. I noticed the body to after I saw the picture, I need to get a better magnifier and hopefully my next one will be better.

Thanks Brian Brown75 and Claudia. It's my first vice so I'm not sure how good the other ones are, but it's a good vice for the money. I wouldn't mind seeing more metal on it and it does flex a little were it rotates but the vise holds the hooks well, I've only had a few slip and to fix that I just tightened them down more.

Thanks Fred, but I don't know if I would go that far; I've only been tying for about a month and am still learning with every wrap.

Here's my first realistic fly let me know what you guys think. And I also wanted to thank Fred for putting together that great starter kit it was very informative and well put together :yahoo:

Hey thanks guys for the great info and fast responses that helped a lot. I was reading in a book that if you tie the tip in first it helps them lean back is that right?

Hey I was just wondering what the best way to wrap hackle was, every time I wrap it and tie it off I always get pieces pointing towards the eye thanks
